Ragin Cajuns Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
Jimmy Redmond pitched well, but his team, the Vail Tigercats, still dropped a 1-0 decision to the Stockton Ragin Cajuns at Ballpark of Stockton. Marc Stephan, now 5-5, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Ryan Robertson finished to wrap up his 20th save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Ragin Cajuns had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when shortstop Jose Celis hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jimmy Redmond and made the score 1-0, Ragin Cajuns. Celis was 1-3.
Stockton manager Jeffrey Troke praised his team's "businesslike approach."
Stockton has a record of 67-61, placing them 4th in the Western AA Central Division.
