The rain came, as predicted, but the Sonoma Scorpions and Miami Boll Weevils were able to complete their ballgame.

The Miami Boll Weevils went down to defeat to Jose Ceballos and his Sonoma teammates. The final score was 5-2, in favor of the Scorpions. Ceballos picked up the win for Sonoma, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 8-7. Mauricio Martinez picked up the save, his 19th.

Tied up with the Boll Weevils in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Scorpions got a boost from left fielder Bryan Sheary. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Sheary saw a 1-2 fastball from Jon Caruso and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Sonoma on top, 3-2.

"We did a lot of things right," said Sheary.

Sonoma, now 68-48, holds down second place in the Western AA Coastal Division.
