Capitols Snatch 2-1 Win from Milkmen
|
The Augusta Capitols earned a close win over the Vermont Milkmen, thanks in part to Max Hercules. The Augusta right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the W-AA with a 1.31 WHIP, played a key role in the 12-inning, 2-1 victory. The winner was Travis Jessie in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Jason Phillips took the loss. The Milkmen, at 51-58, have lost 4 in a row.
Augusta got a clutch hit from Jon Aranda. The center fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
Afterward, Capitols manager Chris Clarke was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
