Vail Grounds was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Cincinnati Bombardiers starter Brad Porretta turned in a sparkling performance against the Vail Tigercats, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Porretta yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 6-5. Steve Dunn was credited with the save for Cincinnati, his 27th of the season.
Randy Wheat had a direct impact on the outcome. Wheat contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Cincinnati up, 2-0.
