Furphy Now 11-10 After Beating Tropics
|
In a low-scoring game between Bangor and White Deer, pitcher Pat Furphy was excellent. The Bangor right-hander helped his team knock off the Tropics, 2-0. Bobby Simpson was credited with the save, his 5th in 8 tries. The 4th-place Tropics have lost 4 straight games.
The win was credited to Furphy. He raised his season record to 11-10. In 8 innings of work, Furphy gave up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 9. The Tropics never could get a clutch hit when they needed it.
"I got in a good groove," said Furphy. "I was getting some swings and misses."
