The Kalamazoo Comets got a stellar performance from pitcher Michael Brumfield, who handcuffed the Long Beach offense en route to a win, 5-0, at Wizards Stadium. Brumfield got the win, improving to 6-8. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. The Comets raised their record to 50-90.

The Comets benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the sixth. With Nick Nicholson at bat and Kalamazoo leading 1-0, the Long Beach miscue allowed Kalamazoo to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Comets manager Sam Furfari. "This one was nice to get."
