Comets 2B Leith goes 3-for-3 in Win
The 6-4 Kalamazoo win over Long Beach was due largely to Matt Leith. The Comets second baseman went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Stuart Blankenship claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 6-4. Kevin Martinez earned the save for Kalamazoo, his 24th of the year.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Comets grabbed the lead when Nick Nicholson rapped a two-out single. Kalamazoo was trailing 3-2, when Nicholson hit a 2-run single off Matt Davis to put his team in front, 4-3.

"Everything is going good for me," said Leith.

With the win, the Comets improved to 49-89.
