Boll Weevils Bridle Bulldogs, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the Miami Boll Weevils and the Hamilton Bulldogs, pitcher Gerardo Matute was masterful on the mound. The Miami right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. Justin Farrell closed the game out for Miami, earning his 14th save. Miami sits in 5th place in the Western AA Coastal Division at 43-55.
The Boll Weevils got a big at-bat from right fielder Tyler Miles. For the game, Miles was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Miami a 3-0 lead.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Miami manager Bill Murtha. "That's what Gerardo is right now."
