The Hickory Crawdads used a great performance from Ricardo Martinez, who is tied for 9th in the StC in holds with 4, to beat the Spokane Selects, 2-1, at Crawdad Park. The win puts Hickory at 34-24 this season.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Jason Seagle came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Spokane pitcher Mike Watts, he hit a full count cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hickory on top, 2-1.

Martinez told a Hickory Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
