Purple Wave Handle Westwood, Snag 3-2 Win
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Ballpark of Lexington. But 25-year old left fielder Kevin Garber produced just enough offense to carry the Purple Wave past the Westwood Bruins, 3-2. Garber went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. New Rochelle reliever Sean Harris picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Jonathan Marich was tagged with the loss. With this game in the books, New Rochelle is 26-32, Westwood 31-27.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Garber hit a 2-run home run off Jonathan Marich. It propelled the Purple Wave into the lead, 2-0.
New Rochelle manager Brent Boudreau commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
