The Fremont Marshalls beat the New Rochelle Purple Wave, 6-4, at Ballpark of Lexington. Joe West starred for Fremont. He went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks. Francisco Hernandez got the win, improving to 6-4. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3. The Marshalls, at 36-23, lead by one game in their division.
Center Fielder Mitch Jarka made an impact for Fremont, when he swatted a run-scoring double off David Woodson in the top of the fourth. For the contest, Jarka went 1-4 with a double.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Jarka.
