Milkmen Slap 4-2 Loss on Cincinnati
|
The Vermont Milkmen beat the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 4-2, with major props going to first baseman Chris Flowers. On the day, Flowers went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs for the Milkmen. Vinny Padilla got the win, improving to 7-3. He held the Bombardiers to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 5. Getting the save was Morgan Felty, his 8th.
Craig Dobbs had a big 2-run home run for the Milkmen in the bottom of the third inning. With Vermont leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from Alex Martinez, who is tied for 8th in the W-AA in holds with 6, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Milkmen ahead, 4-1.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Milkmen manager Mike Barriga. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
The loss makes Cincinnati 44-47.
