The umbrellas came out during the Columbus-Kalamazoo contest at Ballpark of Columbus.

The Columbus Bowsers topped the Kalamazoo Comets, 11-6, with shortstop Chris Weidner playing a big role. Weidner went 2-2 with 2 singles and 3 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Bowsers in the win. Columbus reliever Juan Esquibel picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Jordan Santiago took the loss.

Danny Martinez took Kalamazoo hurler Jim Unknown deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 3-run home run put the Bowsers on top, 6-4. In all, Martinez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.

Kalamazoo manager Morgan Van Dyke, after yet another defeat, said: "Guys need to step up. Pronto."

The third-place Bowsers have won 7 in a row.
