Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the New Rochelle Purple Wave and Walnut Park Bobcats.
In a low-scoring game between the New Rochelle Purple Wave and the Walnut Park Bobcats, pitcher Blake Banks was masterful on the mound. The New Rochelle right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-0 win. Banks, the winner, moves to 4-5. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Getting the save was Ron Lombardi, his 2nd.
New Rochelle used a well-timed hit by Felix Mora to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Purple Wave ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Mora called the win "a collective effort."
New Rochelle now owns a record of 24-31.
