The home crowd had a good time watching the Hickory Crawdads and Quebec Aces get after it.

The Hickory Crawdads got a superb performance from pitcher Rich Roberts, but the Quebec Aces still won the game, 7-4. Roberts came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. Rob Savo nailed down the save.

Brian Gates had a big bases-clearing double for the Aces in the bottom of the third inning. With Quebec leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Verellen and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aces ahead, 7-3.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Gates.

With this game in the books, Quebec is 23-27, Hickory 29-21.
