Sweepers Fall Short, 4-3, at White Deer
|
The White Deer Tropics knocked off the Nashua Sweepers, 4-3, in Southern A action at Ballpark of White Deer. White Deer pitcher and Columbus, Georgia, native Steve Greene had an outstanding performance. Greene, now 4-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. White Deer is 24-27 and Nashua, with the loss, 28-23.
White Deer took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when John Pavao hit a clutch 3-run home run to bring Tropics fans to their feet.
Said losing manager Tony Allen: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."
