A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Miami Boll Weevils and Hamilton Bulldogs.
The Miami Boll Weevils converted a terrific effort from starter Jose Ramirez into a win over the Hamilton Bulldogs at Ballpark of Miami. The Boll Weevils won the game by a final score of 5-2. Ramirez yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-3.
Kevin Bain, who is tied for 9th in the W-AA with a .293 batting average, took Hamilton hurler Jon Escobar deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Boll Weevils on top, 2-1. In all, Bain had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It feels good to get this one," Bain told the Miami Observer.
With the win, the Boll Weevils have a record of 24-29.
