Bulldogs Improve to 30-19 with 7-3 Win
|
Tony Fernandez was a major factor in the 7-3 Hamilton win over London. The Bulldogs catcher went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Hamilton reliever Ryan Middaugh picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jonathan Roten took the loss. The Tigers have now dropped 5 straight.
The Tigers had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Bulldogs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old right fielder Brett Cortright came to the plate. Cortright hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch curveball from London hurler Jonathan Roten. It was Cortright's 9th home run of the year.
"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Hamilton manager Emmanuel Montano.
