Lake Elsinore had no answer for Long Beach Keys starter Jim Unknown, who flummoxed Storm hitters as the Keys cruised to victory, 8-1. In 8 innings, Unknown surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Long Beach is now 21-29, Lake Elsinore 13-37.
The Keys got an important contribution from center fielder Ferda Halici, who in the top of the eighth hit a 2-1 fastball to left for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Keys ahead, 8-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Halici.
