Tropics Get One-Run Win at Mexico City
|
The White Deer Tropics locked up a win at Tony Gwynn Stadium, knocking off the Mexico City Aztecs, 1-0. On the mound for White Deer was left-hander Josh Howard. He played a major role in the triumph. David Cooper wrapped it up, recording his 12th save. The Tropics now have a record of 23-19 with the win over Mexico City.
The Tropics got a big at-bat from catcher Kyle Stempien. For the game, Stempien was 1-3 with a home run. In the top of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave White Deer a 1-0 lead.
"Josh had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said White Deer manager Gabriel Gonzalez.
