Big Day for Rupp as Bowsers Down Aztecs, 9-4
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Jesse Rupp, the Columbus Bowsers defeated the Mexico City Aztecs, 9-4. Rupp went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Bowsers. The winner in relief was Oliver Murga. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for Columbus.
Rupp contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Columbus in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-1, Rupp took a sinker from Jae-weong Hyun and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Bowsers to leap in front, 5-3.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Rupp said after the game.
