The bats were silent much of the day at Long Beach Grounds. But 23-year old shortstop Mike Nelson produced just enough offense to carry the Keys past the Nashua Sweepers, 2-1. Nelson was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Carlos Montenegro earned the win for Long Beach. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 2-3. The victory makes Long Beach 14-11.

Early in the game, Nelson had a solo home run for Long Beach. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Keys on top, 2-1.
