The Mexico City Aztecs downed the Bangor Lumberjacks, 1-0, at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Stellar pitching by Marco Montes had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Montes, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Mexico City, with the win, is 16-4.

Justin McCoy broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the third with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Aztecs in front, 1-0. For the game, McCoy drew 1 walk.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Montes told the Mexico City Chronicle.
