Columbus starter Carlos del Valle put a stranglehold on the Pueblo offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Bowsers to a 7-1 win. The winning pitcher was del Valle, now 1-1. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. Columbus sits at 4-10 in the early going.

Roger Fana had a big 2-run double for the Bowsers in the bottom of the third inning. With Columbus leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from 23-year old left-handed pitcher John Wilgus and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bowsers ahead, 3-0.

"Enjoyed this one," Fana told the Columbus Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
