The St. Catharines Blue Jays downed the Tampa Capitals, 7-3, at Engineers Ballpark. The Blue Jays were led by Ed Montes de Oca. Montes de Oca was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. St. Catharines pitcher Jeremy Foss earned the win, hiking his record to 3-0. Andy Espindola suffered the loss. Randy Nitchals closed the game out for St. Catharines, earning his 1st save.
With St. Catharines trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Montes de Oca hit a fastball from Andy Espindola for a bases-clearing double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-2.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Montes de Oca told a local reporter after the game.
The second-place Blue Jays are 69-64.
