Cannonballers Clip Miners in Tight Contest, 2-1
|
Glace Bay wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Troy Conner, falling to the Cottage City Cannonballers, 2-1. Conner threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Cottage City reliever Israel Beristain picked up the win, while Cory Crabtree took the loss for Glace Bay. Yes, it was a win for Cottage City; but their 37-88 mark is nothing to crow about.
The decisive blow was delivered by Bobby Burm in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Cory Crabtree to win the game for Cottage City. The home crowd went nuts.
"This wasn't a good win," said Burm. "It was a great win."
