Ambassadors Get One-Run Win at Newark
|
The Fremont Ambassadors and Newark Flyers put on a pitchers' duel.
In a low-scoring contest between the Fremont Ambassadors and the Newark Flyers, John Robertson, who is tied for 7th in the N-A in innings pitched with 136.0, proved to be the difference. The Fremont right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Ambassadors win. Lee Waters nailed down the save.
Fremont relied on the hitting of Tim Kidd to pick up the win. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Ambassadors on top, 2-1. For the game, Kidd had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I was a little disappointed," said Newark manager Matt Conners. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Fremont now sits at 43-78, while Newark falls to 73-48.
