Miners Get Clutch Win, 5-4
|
The Glace Bay Miners picked up a win at Miners Memorial Park, downing the St. Catharines Blue Jays, 5-4. On the mound for Glace Bay was right-hander Aaron Tanguay, who played a pivotal role in the win. Matt Westerman got credit for the win, improving to 6-5. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Miners improved to a lofty 80-32.
Glace Bay took advantage of an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Brandon Bates hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Miners in front, 5-4.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Glace Bay manager Carlos Acevedo.
