The 7-4 St. Catharines win over Cottage City was due largely to Raul Rivera. The Blue Jays first baseman was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Jay Yeiser. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The Blue Jays, at 32-22, sit in first place in the Northern A West Division.
St. Catharines used the timely hitting of Kevin Dobson to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said St. Catharines manager Freddy Coss.
