Flyers Tuck Away 6-1 Win Over Grand Rapids
The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks and Newark Flyers met at Newark Fields to settle a score.

The Newark Flyers topped the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks by a score of 6-1. Leading the way was shortstop Matthew Bridges. Bridges was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Flyers. The 4th-place Flyers now have a win-loss record of 30-23.

Bridges contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Newark in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, Bridges took a changeup from Matt Lavender and stroked the home run to right-center. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Flyers to leap in front, 2-1.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Bridges, "and then get after it again."
