The Kansas City Dust Devils could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jimmy Miano into a win. Instead, the Tampa Capitals prevailed, 7-6. Miano threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Dave Leonetti snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Gabe Thomas sewed up the save, his 8th.
Tampa took the lead, 7-6, on Everett Foley's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Kansas City pitcher Frank Stroud in the bottom of the eighth.
Foley told the Tampa Daily: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
Now 27-21, the Capitals have won 10 in a row.
