Kansas City turned a good performance from starting pitcher Joey Russak into a 3-2 triumph over the Santa Rosa Desperados at Kansas City Grounds. Darius Timmons nailed down the save. Kansas City is now 15-28.

The Desperados had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Dust Devils going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old catcher Matt Unger came to the plate. Unger hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Santa Rosa hurler Eduardo Garcia. It was Unger's 3rd home run of the year.

"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Russak said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
