The Fremont Ambassadors withstood an impressive performance by Kansas City designated hitter Steve Thomas to defeat the Dust Devils, 5-4, at Ballpark of Fremont. Thomas went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Fremont reliever Jeff Maggard picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Bob Paterson took the loss. By defeating Kansas City, the 4th-place Ambassadors improved to 20-18.

Jim Unknown took Kansas City hurler Bob Paterson deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Ambassadors on top, 5-4. In all, Unknown had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Unknown said.
