Blue Jays Deal Tampa 4-2 Defeat
|
The St. Catharines Blue Jays beat the Tampa Capitals, 4-2, at Engineers Ballpark. St. Catharines designated hitter Raul Rivera had an outstanding performance. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. St. Catharines reliever Terence Rigbye was the winner. His record is now 4-0. The losing pitcher was Andy Devane. Chase Harriger recorded the save, his 7th.
Rivera had a timely hit for St. Catharines in the bottom of the sixth. With St. Catharines trailing 2-1, he turned a 2-1 cutter into a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 4-2, St. Catharines.
"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Rivera after the game.
The first-place Blue Jays lifted their record to 21-15.
