The Deltaville Deltas got a sterling performance from pitcher Jim Unknown, but the Tampa Capitals still prevailed, 5-4. Unknown came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. Tampa reliever Joe Lilley picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Eric Brouwer took the loss. The first-place Capitals bumped their record to 19-12.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the tenth, an error by the Deltas allowed the Capitals to score the winning run.

"Our guys refused to lose," said Stelting.
