Glace Bay beat Santa Rosa at Miners Memorial Park, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Charlie Longo. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. With the victory, the Miners upped their record to 19-11.

Glace Bay got a knockout punch from Ray Geltz. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Geltz, "one at-bat at a time."
