Glace Bay registered a win at Jet Hawks Ballpark by beating the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks, 4-2. Pitcher Bobby Jones was one reason why the Miners triumphed. The winner was Jones. He threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Manny Acosta. With the loss, Grand Rapids falls to 17-10.
Glace Bay used the clutch hitting of Leo Cortez to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Miners the lead, 2-0. For the game, Cortez had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Glace Bay manager Carlos Acevedo.
