Ambassadors Hold Off Trolls, 2-1

In a low-scoring contest, Fremont pitcher Jim Boonen was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. In 6.2 innings, Boonen surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Brian Joiner earned the save for Fremont, his 5th.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Ambassadors had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder Dave Benavides hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Carlos Zamora and made the score 2-1, Ambassadors. Benavides went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
Benavides said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The loss puts Tyler at 15-9.
