The Glace Bay Miners downed the Huntsville Rockets, 14-0, at Miners Memorial Park. The Miners were led by Jose Avelar. Avelar went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bubba Byrne was the winner. He's now 2-0. The loser was 20-year old left-handed pitcher Derek Sigers. The win puts Glace Bay at 13-5.

Mike Raia had a big 2-run home run for the Miners in the bottom of the first inning. With Glace Bay leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Derek Sigers and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Miners on top, 3-0.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Avelar.
