Mike Pinion pitched well, but the Newark Flyers still lost the game, falling, 4-1, to the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks at Jet Hawks Ballpark. Early on, the Jet Hawks, at 14-6, have excelled.

The Jet Hawks got a big at-bat from right fielder Mike Ayres. For the game, Ayres was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Grand Rapids a 2-1 lead.

"Enjoyed this one," Ayres told the Grand Rapids Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
