Capitals Earn Clutch Win, 9-8
|
The Tampa Capitals spoiled a good performance by Glace Bay shortstop Charlie Longo, bumping off Glace Bay, 9-8, at Capitals Ballpark. Longo was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Tampa reliever Gabe Thomas picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bubba Byrne was tagged with the loss. The defeat makes Glace Bay 6-6.
Alejandro Flores was the walk-off hero for Tampa. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Capitals third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Flores.
