Firecats Rally to Nose Past Vail
Hialeah got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ernie Fields, who frustrated Vail hitters en route to a 2-1 Firecats triumph at Vail Grounds. Reliever Ben Del Vecchio picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Tim Sindt, who is tied for 5th in the W-AA in quality starts with 6, took the loss. The Firecats now have a record of 13-32.

Hialeah used the clutch hitting of Neil Bowman to snag the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Firecats ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Ernie made the big pitches when he needed to," said Hialeah manager John Costa.
