Cornwall Royals starter Troy Conner was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Vermont Milkmen, 7-1. Conner, now 4-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Royals bumped their record to 28-16 with this latest triumph.

Cornwall used a clutch at-bat from Jaime Tate to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Royals ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Vermont skipper Steve Reid. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
