Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Miami Boll Weevils got the win.
Vermont right fielder Doug Joseph had a good game, even if his team did not. The Milkmen dropped a 4-3 decision to Miami at Emeralds Ballpark. Joseph was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Miami is now 16-27, Vermont 23-20.
With one out in the top of the seventh, Ted Hiner had a game-changing hit. The Boll Weevils third baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Ray Vernier, making the score 4-2, Miami.
"Both teams played hard," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.
