In a low-scoring contest, Cornwall pitcher Larry Weese was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. Kelly Powell notched his 6th save of the season. The defeat makes Cincinnati 16-24.

Had Sean Trahan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Trahan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Royals.

"I thought Larry threw the ball well across the board," said Cornwall manager Jon Williams.
