Tigers Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
Starting Pitcher Antonio Alvarez was lights out, as the London Tigers beat the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 2-1. Bobby Pfau picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Cory Hobbs was tagged with the loss. By defeating Cincinnati, the 4th-place Tigers improved to 21-19.
The decisive blow was delivered by Justin Phelps in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 21-year old right-handed pitcher Cory Hobbs to win the game for London. The home crowd went nuts.
"Antonio kept his poise and got the job done," said London manager Fred Castricone. "He was outstanding."
