Miami Earns 6-5 Win
|
The Miami Boll Weevils gave their fans something to talk about with a thrilling, walk-off win.
St. Louis got a terrific game from designated hitter Danny Gates. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Miami, 6-5. Gates went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. The defeat makes St. Louis 18-20.
Miami got a knockout punch from Steve Bailey. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"The house was rockin'," said Bailey.
