Boll Weevils Claim 5-4 Win
|
The inspired effort of St. Louis first baseman Pat Martin was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Miami Boll Weevils. Martin was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. Picking up the save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Brent Kuest. Their 18-19 record puts the Boll Weevils second in the Western AA Coastal Division.
In the bottom of the 1st, Miami took the lead on a 2-run single by Jeremy Beck. At the time, the Boll Weevils were trailing 1-0, but Beck's hit with two outs against St. Louis pitcher Eddie Robinson put them in front, 2-1.
"I was a little disappointed," said St. Louis manager Leo Medina. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
