The Vermont Milkmen faced a tough opponent in Stockton pitcher Scott Barth, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Emeralds Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Barth went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Matt Gardner snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. James Straughn suffered the loss. Stockton, with the loss, is still a stout 16-7.

The decisive blow was delivered by Earl Leason in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 26-year old right-handed pitcher James Straughn to win the game for Vermont. The home crowd went nuts.

"This stadium was a-rockin'," said Leason.
