Bombardiers Score Late to Upend Tigers, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Cincinnati Bombardiers and the London Tigers, 23-year old right-handed pitcher Eddie Sarabia proved to be the difference. The Cincinnati right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Bombardiers win. Cincinnati reliever Alex Martinez picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Mario Salazar was tagged with the loss. Steve Dunn closed it out for his 6th save.
Chris Maydak drove in one run for Cincinnati. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Maydak, who is tied for 10th in the W-AA in total bases with 44, had a clutch at-bat. Facing London hurler Mario Salazar, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Bombardiers a 2-1 lead.
"I felt good up there," said Maydak. "I saw the ball well."
Cincinnati, now 13-8, has played well in the early going.
